As part of Coline Perdrier’s thesis, the first scientific article from the LOOP4PACK project has been published in Process Biochemistry! It is entitled “Impact of overflow vs. limitation of propionic acid on poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) biosynthesis”.

This article investigated the impact of carbon-limiting vs. carbon-overflow conditions thanks to fed-batch cultures, with continuous or sequential feeding of propionic acid as the sole carbon source, and phosphorus deficiency conditions. In this line, the copolymer molecular structure (i.e. 3-hydroxyvalerate (3HV) content, molecular weight, polydispersity index and monomeric distribution) with regard to biosynthesis performances (i.e. productivity and conversion yield of substrate into copolymer) were assessed depending on the implemented feeding strategy.
